Walking!

A lot has happened since we last checked in...Piper took her first steps on July 3rd at 9 1/2 months old. She gets better and faster everyday. She has also mastered turning around and is now trying to carry things and eat while walking. This new development means Kurt and I are always on their toes and most things in our home now reside at 3 feet or higher. We have been having a hot summer, like most everyone else in the south...we take refuge in our pool and on the boat. Piper loves both and we even took swim lessons with her for two weeks. She learned to go under for a few seconds and now jumps off the side into our arms. Piper also learned that sprinklers can be refreshing.

We also added a new member to the family. Our new puppy is a shitzu/chihuahua mix and in honor of her chinese/mexican heritage, we named her Kung Pow Frijoles...or Kipi for short. We got her from another family who didn't have the time to housebreak her and weren't prepared for a puppy. She is only 5 pounds right now and should top out at 8 or 10. She is a sweet girl who is a bit timid and fearful. She loves her "babies" and is a great fetch player. She looks a lot like Sally (small and white). Piper really likes her and vice versa. Our house is officially a zoo, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
