I know it has been quite a while since I updated the blog so here is a re-cap of May & June...
May
Piper and her classmates celebrated the end of the school year by enjoying ice cream treats one day at school. Looks like everyone had a great time eating.
Piper continues to enjoy her art projects and has recently started a love affair with Crayola Markers. She knows where I keep them and will go to the cabinet, pull out her paper and markers and walk to the table and draw. Sometimes she will do it for up to 20 minutes (a lifetime in toddler minutes). She always wants us to see her artwork and even shows it to the dogs. Thankfully the markers are very washable and I have only had to clean it off of a wall one time!

Pretend play has become a large part of Piper's life as she gets more interested in what is actually happening in books and her TV shows and has started to understand that not everything is "real". She has started zooming cars around the house, feeding and talking to dolls and often likes to play dress up (notice her princess shoes in the photo above).
Piper has also begun saying a lot more words and now regularly puts two words together, like "Bye Bye Daddy". She also enjoys making animal sounds and has started to realize that not all animals go "woof". She knows, dog, cat, monkey, cow and we are working on frog.
June
Even though we have had a lot of rain it usually comes in spurts and is usually preceded by very nice sunny weather. So, we have been taking advantage of that by visiting some of the local city parks one of which has a sprinkler park. Piper's new favorite word is "pool" and she didn't back down to this one. She ran around this sprinkler park for 2 hours - the longest we have ever been at a park - and then ate the biggest snack ever afterward. We will definately be returning here as Piper had an awesome time.

Kurt and I were also able to have some fun of our own this month. We went to see The Police in concert - it was great and we had an excellent time - if you get the chance to see them on their reunion tour it's worth the trip.
We started Piper in swimming lessons this weekend and by the end of the course she will be able to hold her breath underwater for 10 seconds. I don't know how they are going to teach her that, but I look forward to it. She will also be taught how to kick her feet and move her arms as a way to move around the water. She loves the water so much and we want her to feel safe and confident in it so we will update you next month and let you know how that is going.
