April 2007

Greetings from Texas and beyond...April was an eventful month for Piper. First we celebrated Easter. As was the case in many parts of the country, we had cold weather on Easter but got outside for some pictures anyway...

Piper really enjoyed her first Easter basket and thought the little prizes inside were yummy and fun...

Next, Kurt and Piper took a trip to Tucson to visit Piper's grandmother and Kurt's birth mother. Amy got to stay home ALONE for the first time since Piper was born...what a nice break although she missed them a lot. Kurt and Piper had tons of fun. Piper was introduced to a lot of new animals at the zoo and even became friendly with a prickly pear cactus that left its mark on her in the form of tiny little bristles stuck all over her body. We are still pulling them out of her but they don't seem to bother her too much... Somehow we ended up with no pictures of Piper and Annie together, but here is what we did get.

Piper continues to enjoy her art projects. Recently she has started painting herself. This particular incident involved blue paint AND shaving cream. She was very intrigued by the feeling and mushy texture of the shaving cream, but it didn't take her long to smear it all together.

Toward the end of the month we went to visit Amy's parents in Knoxville. We took lots of boat rides and Piper has really started to understand who they are and even called them both by their names - Oma and Pop. Everyone had a great time and Piper had her first encounter with sand...she loves it. She will be unstoppable on the beach later this summer.
